Director Celine Song returns to theaters with Materialists, a rom-com that boasts a stellar cast: here's the trailer!

After the great success achieved with Past Lives, a film nominated for two Oscars and five Golden Globes, South Korean director Celine Song is ready to return to theaters. The production company A24 has released the official trailer for Materialists, her new film starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. The film will be released in theaters in the United States on June 13. The Italian release date is unknown for now.

The plot and official trailer of Materialists

Materialists follow the story of Lucy, a young woman who spends her days immersed in the chaotic flow of life in the Big Apple. Her job is to allow others to realize their dreams of love, meeting the person mathematically most compatible with their desires. The formula also applies to her, who runs into Randy, played by The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal.

Randy is the perfect man: thoughtful, kind, passionate, solid and rich, the complete opposite of John, Lucy's ex-boyfriend (played by Chris Evans) who accidentally reappears in the life of the matchmaker to put her beliefs and emotions in the blender. John has remained the adorable, penniless boy, with a precarious life, that Lucy had left several years before. A man who, however, still knows how to make her heartbeat.

Materialists also star Zoƫ Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, Sawyer Spielberg and Eddie Cahill. The film was produced by the director herself together with David Hinojosa, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler.
