Beloved series with all films scoring over 90%

The third film in the "Paddington" series, "Paddington in Peru," which depicts the great adventures of Paddington the Bear, was released in the UK on November 8, 2024. It has once again received a favorable critic score on the US review site Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing, there were 25 reviews, and it started with a high score of 92%. It has been given the "Certified Fresh" Tomato Mark, which means a good record of 75% or more.

Highly rated reviews include: "Thanks to the brilliant performances of Ben Whishaw and Olivia Colman, this jungle trip retains the warmth and fun of the series" (IGN), "Even for the third time, the story of a little bear who is welcomed by strangers is magical" (Deadline), and "Paddington in Peru is bouncy and fun, and will definitely bring a smile to your face, so everyone can enjoy it" (Daily Telegraph).

The first film, Paddington (2014), received a critic score of 97%, and Paddington 2 (2017) received a critic score of 99%, so it still has a near-perfect score. Although series tend to get lower ratings with each installment, Paddington has recorded scores of over 90% for three consecutive films. The main appeal is the emotional and humorous aspects that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders, and the quality seems to be expected in the third film.

Paddington is a live-action film series based on the popular children's literature "Paddington Bear." In the third film, Paddington returns to his hometown of Peru with the Brown family, with whom he lives in London, and heads deep into the jungle to search for his missing Aunt Lucy.

Voice actors Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton will reprise their roles as Paddington and Aunt Lucy in the third film. Hugh Bonneville will play father Henry Brown, Madeleine Harris as daughter Judy, Samuel Joslyn as son Jonathan, and Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird. Emily Mortimer, who appeared in Mary Poppins Returns (2018), will play Mrs. Brown, replacing Sally Hawkins from the previous two films.

New cast members include Olivia Colman, who won an Oscar for The Favourite (2018), as a nun, and Antonio Banderas, known for his roles in Uncharted (2022), as the ship's captain, Hunter Cabot. Director Paul King, who directed and wrote the first two films, is returning as original creator and executive producer. Dougal Wilson, a former music video and commercial director, has been appointed as the new director.

In addition to the fourth film in the Paddington series, it has been reported that a new TV series is in the works, expanding the Bear Universe. Paddington in Peru is currently showing in theaters in the UK. It will be released in the US on January 17, 2025. It is not yet clear when it will be released in Japan.
