The first project related to the character is a prequel series
Responding to fans on Threads, James Gunn, director of Superman and CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, updated the status of Wonder Woman in the DCU, especially ensuring that progress has been made on the Paradise Lost series, a prequel that will tell the story of the island of Themyscira before the birth of the heroine.
Gunn did not give many details about what is happening with Paradise Lost and Wonder Woman, only answering "yes" when a fan asked him about scripts for the series that were sent to Gunn for approval of the project. In other words, there are already episodes of Paradise Lost written.
Although Wonder Woman is not expected to appear in the series, Gunn did not correct the fan when she asked about Paradise Lost and Wonder Woman. Whether this means that preliminary searches for an actress to replace Gal Gadot in the role have begun, we do not yet know.
In July, it was reported that two writers were working on Paradise Lost. The first is Kira Snyder, who has written the series The Handmaid's Tale and The 100. The second would be Janet Lin, also a writer for series including Netflix's huge hit Bridgerton, as well as Cursed - The Legend of the Lake, also on the streaming service, and Bones, from the former Fox.
During the announcement of the project, Gunn described the project as being similar to Game of Thrones and compared Themyscira to Westeros. In addition, the series will focus on the inhabitants of the island before the birth of Wonder Woman.
Paradise Lost is named after "Paradise Island Lost", an arc created by Phil Jimenez and George Perez for Wonder Woman. The story shows a civil war in Themyscira between the Amazons there and those of Bana-Mighdall and is similar to Wonder Woman - Stories: The Amazons, a story praised by James Gunn, which tells the origin of the Amazons and features Wonder Woman's mother, Hippolyta, as the protagonist.
There is no further information about Paradise Lost yet, but news may emerge soon.
