"Wednesday" (2022-), a Netflix drama directed and executive produced by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega. Season 2 is currently being filmed, but it seems that there are already ideas for seasons 3 & 4. Co-showrunner and co-screenwriter Alfred Gough revealed this.

"Wednesday" is a detective mystery starring Wednesday (Ortega), the eldest daughter of the "Addams Family", which has been derived from a comic and developed into movies, anime, TV dramas, musicals, etc. During her strange student life at Nevermore Academy, Wednesday becomes embroiled in her family's past and a mysterious series of murders.

In an interview with Collider in the US, the following question was asked about the season concept of this work. "Did you set up the plot for season 3 and beyond when you were writing season 2? Or are you in the stance of thinking about season 3 after season 2 is successful?" Gough responded, "It's not one or the other."

"First, we have a rough idea, a guidepost. Then, during the development of the season, an idea comes to mind and we realize, 'That's an interesting story,' or 'This is good,' and that can lead to season 3. [...] We also consider interesting stories and characters when we're putting together a season. Then, once we start shooting, we sometimes realize, 'I see,' so it's a mix of both."

Making a TV series is a constant process of trial and error, and Gough reflected on his past work on "Smallville," saying that there were good episodes and not-so-good ones. He then stated, "We have ideas for seasons 3 and 4 of Wednesday." "But things change, and we could come up with a better idea, so nothing is set in stone."

According to Gough, filming of season 2, which is currently taking place in Ireland, is halfway complete. Burton plans to direct half of the series, or four episodes, just like in season 1. At this time, there has been no official announcement of the production of "Wednesday" seasons 3 and 4.
