"Thank you for making my dream come true" speech of gratitude
Tom Cruise, one of Hollywood's top stars, is always there to surprise audiences and fans. On September 27, 2024 (local time), he made a surprise appearance at the Top Gun: Maverick (2022) Cinema Concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, and gave a speech.
This performance is one of the "Films in Concert" cinema concerts regularly held by the Royal Albert Hall. It has been a hot topic since its announcement as a rare one-night performance where the composer Lorne Balfe, who is also involved in the soundtrack, conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra while enjoying the images of Top Gun: Maverick on the big screen. Deadline in the United States introduces X posts from participating spectators. In the video, Tom can be seen dressed in formal attire, as the performance was held in a historic hall.
Tom appeared on stage amid cheers and applause from the audience, and expressed his joy, saying, "I'm so excited to be sharing this night with all of you here, together with you all, in this unique cinema orchestra experience from Top Gun: Maverick."
"The power of music and its use in film is an incredible magic that deepens the experience of the story and deepens our connection with the characters. I want to personally thank the extraordinary talents of Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, Lady Gaga, One Republic, and the gentleman who is here tonight, Lorne Balfe, who also worked on the soundtrack, for the music you are about to hear tonight. I also want to thank the orchestra tonight and all of you for your exceptional talents."
"I have always wanted to experience a film like this, in the grand scale of a traditional movie theater, in front of a full audience, with images synchronized with a full live orchestra. Thank you for coming here and for making this dream come true," concluded Tom. It seems that this was a long-awaited experience for Tom as well.
After the performance, Tom seemed to enjoy a good time on stage with the orchestra members. Conductor and musical director Ben Palmer posted a photo on Instagram of Tom sitting at the pipe organ, touching the keys, with organist Anna Lapwood standing next to him. In the caption, he wrote, "Oh my goodness, great balls of fire...", referencing the title of the rock 'n' roll number sung by Miles Teller's character Rooster in the film.
Lapwood also posted a photo of himself and Tom on his own account. They are both smiling broadly, but the caption is just a simple scream of excitement, "Aaaaahhhh!" It must have been an unforgettable night for both the orchestra members and the audience who attended.
