The Wild Robot 2: DreamWorks Animation confirms that the sequel is in the works

After the great success among critics and audiences, the director of the animated film confirms the green light for the production of the sequel.

Rumors about the possibility of a sequel for the animated film The Wild Robot date back to a few weeks ago, now official confirmations have arrived from the DreamWorks Animation studio. According to what was reported by Deadline, director Chris Sanders has confirmed that the second chapter is officially in the works.

The Wild Robot, an adaptation of a series of children's books by Peter Brown, follows the story of Roz, a robot who, after being shipwrecked on a desert island, must adapt to life on the island and learn to live with the animals that inhabit the place. The animated film has received acclaim from critics, so much so that it boasts a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

As for the performance in theaters, the film debuted with a gross of over 11 million dollars on its first day in the US and was able to exceed initial expectations by managing to gross 100 million dollars at the global box office. Positive results led the animation studio DreamWorks to give the green light to the production of the sequel. The news was confirmed by the director Chris Sanders himself during an event for the industry; Sanders revealed: "There are 100% plans for the production of the second film." The Wild Robot is currently in all Italian theaters (the cartoon arrived in theaters last October 10).
