The original 2019 dark horror comedy also starred Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell.
Samara Weaving and directors Radio Silence are gearing up to return to the big screen with Ready or Not 2, the sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy. The first installment, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella, was a surprise success, both critically and commercially, made on a budget of just $6 million and capable of grossing over $28 million domestically.
Ready or Not 2: Everything We Know About It
The plot of Ready or Not revolves around the character of Grace, played by Samara Weaving, a young bride who, on her wedding night, becomes embroiled in a deadly game. After drawing a card from the new family's deck, Grace finds herself involved in a macabre game of hide-and-seek, where her life is in danger to fulfill an ancient family pact with the devil. The original film starred Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell.
No plot or script details have been revealed for the sequel, but Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, who wrote the first film, will return to write the new chapter. The project will once again see producers Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt, while Villella and Tara Farney will serve as executive producers. Richard Ruiz and Cornelia Burleigh of Searchlight Pictures will oversee the production, reporting to co-directors DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
Ready or Not has been an important film in the careers of both Samara Weaving and the directors of Radio Silence. Following the success of the film, the directors took over the Scream franchise, directing Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023), both of which were well-received. Their latest project, Abigail, was released by Universal in 2024. For her part, Weaving has appeared in films such as Bill & Ted Face the Music, and Chevalier, as well as being part of the cast of Babylon, directed by Damien Chazelle.
