After the resounding success of its previous chapters, the American series is making its big comeback with a highly anticipated fourth season. Starting October 10, fans will find the Pogues, embarked on a new treasure quest full of twists and turns.

It has become a habit for Netflix. Now, many series are split into two parts, and Outer Banks is no exception. The American show is getting ready to return for a fourth season, the first part of which will be broadcast on October 10, and the second on November 7.

Treasure hunt in North Carolina

Released in 2020, in the middle of lockdown, Outer Banks immerses us in the sunny landscapes of North Carolina, where two very distinct worlds coexist: the "Kooks", rich and privileged, and the "Pogues", from modest backgrounds. At the center of this community is John B., a teenager whose father has mysteriously disappeared.

When the legend of a lost treasure resurfaces after a violent hurricane, John B and his gang of friends—JJ, Kiara, and Pope—embark on a risky adventure to uncover the truth. In season two, John B. and Sarah, the daughter of the powerful Ward Cameron, became fugitives in the Bahamas, seeking to recover a stolen treasure.

Meanwhile, the Pogues, left in the Outer Banks, had to face the Cameron family, who would do anything to protect their secrets. Between betrayals and new enemies, tensions mounted, bringing them ever closer to the truth about John B’s father’s disappearance.

In season three, the Pogues faced new dangers, this time in search of the legendary treasure of El Dorado. After surviving on a deserted island they nicknamed “Poguelandia,” they faced Singh and the Cameron family in a fierce battle. The season ended on a dramatic cliffhanger: Ward sacrificed himself to save Sarah, and Big John died after finding gold.

A new adventure for season 4

Although season 4 was quickly announced after the airing of the third, filming was delayed due to the writers' and actors' strikes in Hollywood. The latter had already started, but it was interrupted, before resuming in November 2023.

The excitement is therefore at its peak today because fans already have a glimpse of the events to come. At the end of season 3, a mysterious man gave the Pogues a logbook that belonged to Blackbeard, announcing new thrilling adventures.

Netflix also revealed the official synopsis for the fourth season, which reveals that the Pogues first tried to rebuild a life away from treasure hunting. Living together, they now run a fishing store, but financial difficulties push them to resume the search for new treasures. This time, new enemies will stand in their way, promising new twists and dangers.

The full cast

Season 4 of Outer Banks will mark the return of all the main characters: John B (played by Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant).

The secondary intrigues, particularly on the sentimental level, will still develop. Will the Pope-Cleo and JJ-Kiara couples be able to overcome the difficulties that await them? The dynamic between John B. and Sarah could also evolve unpredictably after the loss of their respective fathers. So many mysteries that promise to be explored in this new installment.
