A great fantasy film that unfairly failed in theaters.

The arrival of a new month brings with it the arrival of several titles in the Netflix catalog. We have already updated the list with all the main films and TV series coming to the platform, but today we talk about a wonderful title that could go unnoticed: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which has just become available on Netflix, after a disastrous run in theaters.

Sold as one of Paramount's big bets in 2023, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has won over most of the audience. The problem is that, at least in theaters, this was not enough, because it is true that it collected 208 million dollars during its release in theaters, but its large budget of 150 million condemned it to failure.

It is true that there has been talk of a sequel, probably because it worked so well in other ways – it probably sold a lot on Home Video. We will see if it will do the same now on Netflix, but we think it has every chance of being successful, given that it is the kind of blockbuster that the platform so desperately needs.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is still a model of success. In addition to working wonderfully as an adventure film – and not making the mistake of focusing too much on presenting a world that promises something bigger than it actually tells us – it also has a cast that fits their roles wonderfully. Visually wonderful, it also knows how to mix tension, humor, and emotion.

The film follows a group of unlikely heroes - including a charming bard, a cunning thief, a powerful wizard, and a brave warrior - who come together to complete an impossible mission: to recover a lost relic. When an ancient and fearsome evil is reawakened, the protagonists must face dangers, legendary monsters, and dangerous betrayals in a world filled with magic and mystery. The film combines an adventurous and humorous tone with moments of intense drama, making it perfect for fans of the game and new viewers alike.

The cast stands out Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, and Hugh Grant, each with a key role in this gripping adventure. Inspired by the legendary role-playing game and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves manages to capture the spirit of the original game, offering a funny story full of twists and turns and a breathtaking setting.
