At the US Box Office, Megalopolis slumps with $4 million, while The Wild Robot is at No. 1 with $35 million.

Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Wild Robot has taken off to No. 1 at the US box office, taking off with $35 million from 3,962 theaters. Meanwhile, Francis Ford Coppola's sci-fi epic Megalopolis has flopped in its debut at the box office, grossing a paltry $4 million from 1,854 North American theaters.

Ticket sales for Megalopolis have fallen short of initial projections of $5-7 million, which would have been financially disastrous for the $120 million budget film. In comparison, Kevin Costner’s mostly self-financed, $100 million passion project Horizon: An American Saga – Part One made $11 million over the summer before finishing its theatrical run with $36 million worldwide. As a result, plans for a second part have been put on hold indefinitely.

Megalopolis will be in theaters on October 16, distributed in Italy by Eagle Pictures. Written, directed, and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, the film stars Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, and Laurence Fishburne. It will premiere at the pre-opening of the Rome Film Fest and Alice nella città.
