What is the controversy over emergency?
Kangana's film is first slated to release on September 6, 2024. However, the release was postponed due to protests by Sikh organizations. The Sikhs are alleging that their community has been misrepresented in this film. The trailer of this movie was released on August 14. Since then, controversy has arisen over the film. There were protests against the film in Punjab.
They demanded to ban it. CBFC had earlier given a certificate to the film. But as the anger of the Sikh community surfaced, the dispute reached the Madhya Pradesh High Court. With this, the central government has issued a certificate to the makers. The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the CBFC to look into the objections of the Sikhs before issuing the certificate.
Changes in Kangana's movie
The makers approached the Bombay High Court as the film was not given a certificate. CBFC has constituted a revising committee. This suggests changes for Kangana in the film. It is informed that the conditions have been set for passing the Censor Board certificate. It seems that there have been objections to some scenes in the movie.
Makers were instructed to make changes in these. It is suggested to put disclaimers on historical topics. Meanwhile, Kangana is playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie Emergency. Along with acting, she also directed and produced this film. Many actors like Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and Mahima Chaudhary will also be seen in important roles in the film.
