The original 1997 film tells the story of a film crew that gets captured

Sony Pictures has announced that Daniela Melchior, known for Road House, will join Paul Rudd and Jack Black in the new film Anaconda. The project represents a fresh take on the ’90s cult classic, rather than a simple remake. Screenwriters Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, known for their work on The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, wrote the script, while Gormican will also direct. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing through their production company, Fully Formed.

Daniela Melchior has starred in Road House, Suicide Squad, Fast X, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The original 1997 film, which starred Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson, and Ice Cube, told the story of a film crew who are captured by an obsessed hunter while trying to capture a giant anaconda. The film grossed $145 million worldwide and helped launch the careers of several actors, including Lopez and Cube.

According to sources, the new version of Anaconda will not simply repeat the story of the original film but will take a more comedic approach while keeping the snake at the center of the narrative. Details on the character Melchior will play have not yet been revealed.

Daniela Melchior has starred in Road House, Suicide Squad, Fast X, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Melchior is currently working on another project, Balls Up, which is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, alongside Mark Wahlberg. She has also completed filming an independent film titled American Sweatshop.
