New Delhi. The Supreme Court said that we should keep God away from politics. The Supreme Court said this while hearing the petitions related to Tirupati temple prasadam.

The Supreme Court, while hearing the petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation into the allegations of the use of animal fat to make laddu served as prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, asked the Andhra Pradesh government whether contaminated ghee was used in making prasadam laddus.

Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the TDP, said that people had complained that the taste of the laddus was not right. The Supreme Court said that people were not aware of this, you have just made a statement. There is no evidence that contaminated ghee was used in the prasadam.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court that this is a matter of faith, if this ghee was used then it is unacceptable. It has to be seen who was responsible and it should be investigated.

The Supreme Court told the Solicitor General that it would like him to examine whether the investigation should be done by the SIT formed by the state. Should such a statement have been made (by the state) which affects the sentiments of the devotees? When the SIT was ordered, what was the need to go to the press and make a public statement?
