Smile 2 will be released in theaters on October 18.

The Smile franchise is getting ready to scare audiences again with the arrival of Smile 2, scheduled for October 18. The official running time of the sequel was recently confirmed: the film will keep audiences on the edge of their seats for 2 hours and 1 minute, not counting the closing credits. This makes the film slightly longer than its 2022 predecessor, which surprised audiences with its disturbing approach to psychological horror.

Smile: Plot and Cast

Smile 2, this time, presents the story through Skye Riley, a pop star played by Naomi Scott. Skye, about to embark on a new world tour, faces a series of inexplicable and increasingly frightening events. As the horrors escalate and the pressures of her career reach a boiling point, Skye must confront a dark past to prevent her life from spiraling completely out of control. This new chapter delves into deeper psychological territory, exploring the fears that arise when reality mixes with imagination and the past threatens to overwhelm the present.

The cast of Smile 2 includes, in addition, Naomi Scott, Kyle Gallner, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Dylan Gelula, Raul Castillo, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley. Parker Finn, who directed the first film, returns to direct this sequel. Finn has previously stated that he never intended for Smile to become a franchise. Still, he was surprised by the unexpected success of the original film, which led to the opportunity to create a sequel. In a 2022 interview, he explained that, while Smile was conceived as a standalone work, there were still aspects of the story that were left unexplored, offering interesting ideas for a possible sequel.

Finn has also expressed his desire not to repeat himself with this sequel, instead trying to bring something new and unexpected to fans of the genre. He hinted that while the world of Smile still offers many narrative possibilities, his goal is to surprise audiences with something innovative and original.
