The PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution of the PS5 Pro could prove to be one of the most important elements of the console, with Digital Foundry believing that this feature has enormous potential with next-generation games.

According to DF, in fact, the PSSR represents one of the "big three" that Mark Cerny talked about during the technical presentation of the PlayStation 5 Pro, consequently placing itself as one of the characteristic elements of the new Sony hardware.

In fact, in addition to Ray Tracing, not yet available on AMD cards, the PS5 Pro will also be able to count on the new proprietary upscaling technology created directly by Sony and based on Artificial Intelligence, capable at least in theory of showing defined images on the screen despite the low native resolution.

According to Cerny's recent statement, development teams will be able to use PSSR to upscale from a resolution much lower than the output, consequently increasing it to 4K while losing as little detail as possible.

It's important to note that at least for now we haven't had the chance to actually test the qualities of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, with Digital Foundry admitting to being very curious about the use of PSSR by third-party development teams, given that in that case the PS5 Pro upscale will have to make up for the lesser optimization.
