One Piece, how does the live-action series distort the comics in season 2?

The second season of the live-action One Piece on Netflix promises to be full of changes that could surprise fans of Eiichiro Oda's manga. During the recent Geeked Week, some significant news was revealed: among these, the first look at Tony Tony Chopper and the announcement that Joe Manganiello and Lera Abova will play Crocodile and Nico Robin, respectively.

One Piece – Season 2, an element that captures the fantasy and imagination of fans

One element that has captured the attention of fans is the possible introduction of Hand Island, a place that never appeared in the manga but was created for an anime special, One Piece: Episode of Luffy – Adventure on Hand Island, broadcast together with One Piece: Film Z. Even if this episode was not part of Oda's original story, it provided the context for the film. The appearance of a map of Hand Island in a behind-the-scenes video for the second season has sparked speculation that the location could be included in the series.

Despite these rumors, there is still no official confirmation of the presence of Hand Island in the plot. What is certain, however, is that key locations from the manga such as Drum Island, Loguetown, Little Garden, and Whiskey Peak have been confirmed by the creator himself as part of the second season. Filming is taking place in Cape Town, South Africa, but a release date has not been announced. What we do know is that the series will not return until 2025.

Fans can expect a season that, while maintaining a connection to the original story, could include new scenarios and developments from the anime, offering a live-action version of the One Piece universe.
