The latest film in the series, Jurassic World Rebirth, which recently wrapped filming, is scheduled for release on July 2, 2025
Samuel L. Jackson has reignited the debate over the fate of his Jurassic Park character, Ray Arnold, by suggesting that he may not be dead, despite the circumstances presented in the original film. In the 1993 blockbuster directed by Steven Spielberg, Jackson plays Jurassic Park's chief engineer, Ray Arnold, who goes missing after an attempt to reboot the park's systems. Later, only his amputated arm is shown in a scene with Laura Dern's Ellie Sattler, suggesting he died at the hands of dinosaurs, although his body is never shown on screen.
Despite these speculations, the Jurassic Park franchise continued without Samuel L. Jackson
In a recent interview with GQ, Samuel L. Jackson suggested that the character in Jurassic Park may still be alive, drawing a comparison to his character in Star Wars, Mace Windu, who was also believed to be dead, but whose survival has been the subject of speculation. Jackson joked that Ray Arnold may have survived despite losing a limb, imagining him riding velociraptors and using them to his advantage. This statement has rekindled fans' hopes that the character could make a return to the franchise.
Samuel L. Jackson also explained that there was originally a scene that would have shown Arnold's death in Jurassic Park, but due to bad weather, the sets planned for filming were destroyed. As a result, the production had to change plans, only showing his amputated arm. This change left open the possibility that the character is not actually dead, a theory that Jackson seems to agree with.
