The series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set about a century before the events of Game of Thrones
Production on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, a Game of Thrones spin-off, has wrapped. Filming for the series, which took place primarily in north Belfast, Northern Ireland, began in June and concluded after several months of work. The show's first season will consist of six episodes.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Plot and Cast
Despite the end of filming, post-production will be a crucial step, with the need to complete visual effects and editing. This could push the series’ debut to late summer or fall 2025. Such a release window would be perfect to fill the gap between House of the Dragon’s second season, due this year, and its third season, due in 2026.
George R. R. Martin, creator of the Game of Thrones world, expressed satisfaction with the progress of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, praising the work of the cast and production during a visit to the set in July. Martin said he was thrilled with the portrayal of the main characters, Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg, who he felt were brought to the screen faithfully to his books.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set about a century before the events of Game of Thrones and follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave but inexperienced knight, and his young squire Egg, whose real name is Aegon Targaryen, the future king of Westeros. In a time when the Targaryens still reign on the Iron Throne, the two protagonists find themselves involved in a series of adventures, meeting powerful allies and dangerous enemies.
The cast includes Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as the young Egg. Alongside them are actors such as Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, and Finn Bennett, who play Ser Steffon Fossoway, Daeron Targaryen, and Aerion Targaryen respectively, helping to bring to life a time when the Targaryens still hold strong power in Westeros.
