The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power, soon on our screens! Prime Video sets a release date for the new episodes of the series. What a month for Tolkien fans! If only a few days ago Warner Bros. announced the arrival of the new films, now Prime Video presents the first official trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power, which will return to our screens on August 29, 2024.
With always a mix of devotion and wonder, we take our first look at the ambitious new season of the fantasy series, which will pick up right where we left off a year and a half ago. A few questions to which we await answers are: what happens to Númenor after the death of the king? How does the Stranger's journey to the legendary Rhûn end? What plans does Sauron have after the “founding” of Mordor? What role will the newly forged elven rings play?
There are many questions to be resolved in season 2 which stars Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, and Tanya Moodi in roles not yet revealed. The other powerful addition is Sam Hazeldine, who replaces Joseph Mawle in the role of Adar. They join an already large cast composed of: Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Markella Kavenagh (Nori), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Round), Charlie Vickers (Halbrand/Sauron) and Daniel Weyman (The Stranger). Lloyd Owen (Elendil), Maxim Baldry (Isildur), Owain Arthur (Durin IV), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Miriel), Ema Horvath (Eärien), Benjamin Walker (Gil-galad), Sophia Nomvete ( Disa) or Peter Mullan (Durin III), among others
JD Payne and Patrick McKay are the creators and main writers of the series, whose season 2 consists of eight episodes, like the previous one. The director of the first one is Charlotte Brändström, who has already directed a couple of episodes of the series.
