Analysis

Varalakshmi Sarathkumar's first time doing a female oriented movie in Telugu, 'Sabari' has attracted the audience's attention as it is a mother-and-daughter emotional movie. And how was the movie? If you see...

Psychological Thriller Movies In Telugu: The movie 'Shabari' is a psychological thriller. But... the thrill factor kicked in the pre-interval. Director Anil Katz interestingly started the film with a man escaping from a mental asylum in the city, killing two and starting a search for the mother and daughter. Later,  the director made the audience wait till the pre-interval for Mime Gopi's face-to-face scenes with Varalakshmi, the thrill factor. Hence, till then the movie moves slowly.

Varalakshmi's character's childhood, relationship with her mother...fight with her stepmother, the reason for her separation from the husband she loved and married...till the pre-interval, there was more emotional drama than thrill. The narrative progressed very slowly. Just before the interval, the pace of the story started. After that, it slowed down again. In the middle one remembers 'One Nenokkadine'. The director has taken cinematic liberties when it comes to logic. Gopisunder's songs went in flow with the story. Not to be heard and remembered again. The background music for the thriller scenes is well done. This movie is short in length but can be trimmed more. The cinematography and production values are fine.

It must be said that Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar's journey as Sanjana's character actress in 'Sabari' is different. She has done powerful characters showing villainy... she has shown different emotions as a common woman. Mime Gopi's appearance brought the desired fear factor to the scenes. Ganesh Venkatraman showed a dual shade in his performance as Varalakshmi. Shashank acted as a helper of Varalakshmi. Despite Sunaina and Bhadram, the comedy didn't work out. Ashrita Vemuganti played a key role.

Sabari... is a different psychological thriller compared to Telugu movies! A concept with an emotional touch! But the first half goes slow. After that, it moves forward taking different turns. Go to theaters without any expectations. New Varalakshmi can be seen.
