In this article, let's discover all the information that has emerged online in recent weeks on the PS5 Pro.

In recent weeks there have been many rumors online about the PS5 Pro, with numerous and reliable insiders sharing a lot of unpublished information about Sony's new console in advance. For this reason, we have decided to include in this article all the news already known about the Japanese giant's gaming machine.

We immediately point out that at the time of writing this article, Sony has not officially confirmed any details on an alleged "Pro" version of PS5, which is why all the information present just below this article is the result of a careful analysis of the many reports circulated vigorously on the web in recent weeks.

The release period of PS5 Pro

Having made this clarification, we would like to point out that PlayStation5 Pro should be released during the last months of 2024, with Tom Henderson having stated on several occasions that Sony's new console is aiming for a release in the last months of this year.

PS5 Pro price and models

As IGN.com recalls, in November 2023 Sony released the PlayStation 5 Slim, marked just like the basic model with a digital-only version and one with a Blu-Ray player. Obviously the version without disc player costs 100 Euros less. Given this element, the Pro could also be characterized by two different models, one exclusively digital and one that would instead offer support for physical games.

Considering that the PS5 Slim with disc drive has a price of €550, while the digital version of the Slim model costs €450, a price of 599 Euros for the PlayStation Pro cannot be ruled out. Furthermore, Sony could also release it at 550 Euros, lowering the price of the Slim version by 100 euros.

The technical specifications of PS5 Pro

As we specified at the beginning of the article, despite the lack of official information, many rumors have anticipated the technical specifications of the console, with Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, Moore's Law is Dead and Tom Warren of The Verge all sharing the same information in this regard, decisively strengthening the leak.

PlayStation 5 Pro system memory should therefore be 576 GB/s (18GT/s), an increase of 28% compared to the standard console. Moving on to the GPU, this should offer 45% faster rendering than the PS5, offering 2-3x Ray-tracing (x4 in some cases) thanks to a power of 33.5 Teraflops. The console should instead offer a PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) upscaling/antialiasing solution, with the new version of the SDK being able to offer support for resolutions up to 8K.

The console should also feature a custom machine learning architecture, while the CPU should be essentially the same as the standard model, but with a higher frequency mode capable of offering more power to developers. We add that the console should also include the new "PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution" technology and that it should work similarly to the DLSS upscaling technology, stabilizing the frame rate and increasing the fidelity of games by improving the resolution and detail on the screen.

We conclude by also reporting the requests made by Sony for certified games, asking for support at 4K and 60 FPS.
