Steam has removed Helldivers 2 from sale in over 150 regions, also authorizing refunds for many players.

In recent hours, real chaos has broken out around Helldivers 2, the new game from Arrowhead Game Studios which at the time of writing this article is no longer available for purchase in over 150 regions, with Steam even issuing refunds for the title regardless of users' playtime. This decidedly difficult situation was created following Sony's announcement (which took place last Friday) regarding the mandatory use of a PlayStation Network account to play the title also on Steam PC.

For this reason, from May 30, 2024, the Steam version of Helldivers 2 will also require all players to log in with a PlayStation Network account, otherwise, it will be impossible to join the fray to protect democracy. As VGC reminds us, this change, present at the launch of the game and then removed due to server problems, gave rise to a decidedly complicated situation, forcing Steam to remove the game from sale in over 150 countries, given that in these it is not PSN is active.

On top of all this, players are reporting that Valve's digital store is issuing refunds for the game regardless of playtime, thus eliminating the two-hour limit on requesting a refund.
