Justin Lin, known for directing him in several Fast & Furious films, seems to have a new project to work on. While there has been speculation regarding his possible direction for Spider-Man 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it appears the director now has a new project confirmed with Amazon.
What will Justin Lin's (possible) new film be about?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lin will direct the upcoming crime thriller Stakehorse for Amazon MGM. In addition to directing, Justin Lin will also be involved in producing through his Perfect Storm Entertainment banner, alongside Todd Lieberman and Alex Young of Hidden Pictures. The film, written by Justin Piasecki, will focus on a horse vet involved in medical work for criminals, with a tone comparable to Ben Affleck's The Town.
The announcement of Lin's new project comes after his "major disagreement" with Vin Diesel led him to step down from directing the tenth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. Justin Lin was replaced by Louis Leterrier but remained involved as a producer and writer for Fast “Justin and I are friends and colleagues, we admire each other,” said Leterrier, explaining that the transition in roles was natural thanks to their personal connection.
