A new trailer for Kinds of Kindness has been released, showing Emma Stone in an iconic scene where she dances in a parking lot. The film, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, marks the return of the couple following the success of Poor Things!, for which Stone recently won the Oscar for Best Actress.
Emma Stone returns in a new film with Yorgos Lanthimos, but the plot is a mystery!
The trailer, just confirmed to premiere in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, offers a first look at the film which was secretly shot in New Orleans in the fall of 2022.
Kinds of Kindness also stars Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons, and Hunter Schafer. The plot of the film revolves around three stories, which converge in a sort of Pulp Fiction atmosphere. Not much is known about the plot, but this is what the director said about Emma Stone's new film:
“It's a contemporary film set in the United States. Three different stories with four or five actors playing a role in each story. Everyone plays three different roles, it was like shooting three separate films.”
Lanthimos, together with screenwriter Efthimis Filippou, worked on the film's screenplay. This is the eighth feature film by the Greek director and the third with Emma Stone. The original release date for Kinds of Kindness, announced as June 21 by Searchlight Pictures, was confirmed, stating that the film would appear in competition at Cannes, marking Lanthimos' return to the Croisette following The Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer in 2017.
