It's official: CBS is working on a reboot of the TV series Cold Case. The show, which aired for seven seasons from 2003 to 2010, is currently in development at the Eye Network, Deadline reported.

Will the Cold Case reboot series live up to the original?

Fifteen years after the end of the original series, this new show opens a new chapter for Cold Case, following a completely different group of detectives as they delve into unsolved crimes. While details are still unknown, one key difference from the original series has been confirmed: the reboot will be set in the Southwest, as opposed to the Philadelphia of the original. Meredith Stiehm, the creative mind behind the success of Cold Case, has returned to write the screenplay for this long-awaited reboot.

Joining her will be executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer for Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Kristie Anne Reed for Warner Bros Television and CBS Studios. CBS also recently relaunched the CSI franchise with CSI: Vegas, which has already reached its third season, demonstrating CBS' confidence in the brand and winning formula. In the original Cold Case, Kathryn Morris shone as the determined detective Lilly Rush, who led the team in analyzing old, forgotten cases. Alongside her, the cast included Justin Chambers, Danny Pino, John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford, Thom Barry, and Tracie Thoms.
