Dune is probably one of the most famous and exciting sci-fi literary epics ever: we are talking about a colossal adventure, carried out by Frank Herbert between 1965 and 1985 with a total of 6 novels which among other things were further expanded with other books however entrusted to the author's son. Over the years, many have tried to adapt this franchise both on the small and on the big screen and, so far, only director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner: 2049, Arrival) in 2021 has perfectly managed to bring to light the original spirit of the sci-fi novels. In fact, just think that the first film dedicated to this world was thought of as Part 1 of the first book.

Dune: Part 2 is arriving in on March 1, 2024

For now, Part 2 of Dune is also about to arrive, which therefore completes the transposition of the first book. Unfortunately, in recent months, the protests of the actors and screenwriters have pushed Warner Bros. to slow down the release of the film which has been postponed by several months from the schedule. While we await the arrival of the realization, here in an interview for IndieWire, he explained not only that at present they are already working on the screenplay of Dune: Messiah or the third film inspired by the second book of the saga, but that certainly among the end of Dune: Part 2 and the start of production on the other will take a break.

“I don't know exactly when I will return to Arrakis,” Villeneuve said. “I might take a detour first just to get away from the sun. For my own sanity, I could do something in between, but my dream would be to go to this planet I love one last time. For me, this movie is much better than Part One. There is something more alive in it. There is a relationship with the characters. I was trying to achieve an intensity and a quality of emotion that I didn't achieve with Part One and that I achieved with Part Two. I'm not saying the movie is perfect, but I'm much more satisfied with Part Two than I was with “Part One”. I can't wait to share it with fans and viewers."
